Responding to Antigone: March 27, 2008 (Prologue, Scenes 1-2)

27 03 2008

Now that we have read the first part of Antigone, consider what you know about her.   What advice would you give Antigone at this point in the play?  Would you advise her to stick to her decision, or would you recommend to her she do something differently?  Why?

Explain your ideas in paragraph of 6-8 sentences.

The advice I would give Antigone at this point is that she needs to listen to Creon. Because if she doesn’t she could end up getting hurt. But I think her decision was a good Idea. If that was a brother or sister of mine I would not want them lying out there. I want them to lay to rest and not be out there like that. No, I really don’t think that she can do anything differently. But to just listen to the law that Creon stated.

Antigone is the type of person that has no problem what doing what she feels is right. She also has the need to make sense. I would tell Antigone to keep doing what you’re doing and prove Creon wrong. Since everyone knows who’s doing the right thing then you can go out with your honor and pride. The reason for me saying this is because I would have done the same thing and admit the truth to my doings and standing up for what I believe and support it 101%.
